Urea (carbamide) cosmetic grade attracts and retains moisture in the stratum corneum and, at medium to high levels, helps regulate desquamation of surface cells. It reduces tightness, flaking, and rough patches, and may enhance penetration of some water-soluble actives. It dissolves easily and is best added without high heat and within a skin-friendly pH range. Suitable for leave-on or rinse-off products when dosed appropriately for skin type and area.

How to use:

●       Add to the aqueous phase or during cool-down (≤ 40–45 °C) until fully dissolved.

● Target a final pH of ~5.0–7.0.

●       Avoid prolonged/high heating as urea may decompose and raise pH.

●       High levels may tingle on cracked skin; adjust dosage to the application site.

Recommended usage levels in skincare:

●       Toners/serums: 1–5%

●       Face creams/lotions: 2–10%

●       Body lotions: 3–10%

●       Hand/heel care and very dry areas: 10–20% (up to 30% for targeted foot care, assess tolerance)

●       Rinse-off cleansers/masks: 1–3%

Solubility:

●       Soluble in water, glycerin, propylene glycol, and light alcohols

●       Insoluble in oils and non-polar solvents

●       Hygroscopic and may clump; pre-dissolving is preferred

Applications:

●       Hydrating serums and gels

●       Creams/lotions for dry, flaky skin

●       Products targeting rough skin texture

●       Hand creams and heel balms

●       Post-cleanse lotions and gentle rinse-off masks/cleansers

●       Sheet masks and overnight hydrating treatments

Storage:
 Keep tightly closed, protected from light and moisture, at a moderate temperature (below 25 °C). Store dry, as urea is hygroscopic and may clump with moisture exposure.
